Of course, Jason reminded me that we would be even further from friends and family (with the nearest decent sized airport 2 hours away), that it is only warm 2-3 months out of the year (and by warm I mean 80s), and that no one ever come visit us. Plus he wondered what we would do there. I said that he would make a fine lobsterman and that I could treat the community's seasonal depression.
Anyways one of the activities we did was to go on a 4 hour whale watch. We were actually pretty nervous about going. RLG has been a bit of a handful lately. So we envisioned ourselves fighting for four hours to keep him contained and not seeing any whales.
Ofcourse, as always with the little darling, the trip DID NOT go off without a hitch. About 10 minutes into the trip, Robert seemed to be getting fussy, he started wagging his finger at the boat and saying, "No,no boat". After a couple times, I said to Jason, "I think he's seasick".
Sure enough, he started vomiting...about 10 times. 10 minutes in and 10 episodes of vomiting, we were thinking, "How much money did we pay for this?!!" Both of us were starting to look a little green thinking about what the next 3 hours and 50 minutes. And it wasn't just Robert. There were quite a few landlubbers on the boat.
Even 2 year olds get seasick
Well, we made it out and there were whales. There were lots of whales and the boat was no longer seesawing and it was wonderful! We saw finbacks, humpbacks, and minke whales. At one point we were surrounded on all sides by whales. They were really amazing and the footage doesn't do the experience justice.
The whales actually got pretty close to the boat. Robert was really enjoying it and kept saying, "where'd it go? where'd it go?"
