Sorry! I know it's been a while. I've been working entirely too much, and we've been down technologically.
Robert and I went to Michael's craft store to buy animal figurines. They are great play therapy tools for early school age children. They seem to right away organize the animals into families and will enact different events that can give you some sense of their family story.
This clip amused me, mainly because he seems to be imitating what I say to him.
We did end up buying some mommy and baby animals, which RLG has enjoyed. It amazes me how much pretend play kids his age already do. I was watching him use the mommy zebra to feed the baby animals and tuck them in bed. It felt nice to see him show how the mommy cares for the babies. Of course, I was a little sad when he followed it up with, "Bye, bye babies. Mommy going to work".
Needless to say, we have spent a lot, a lot of time together this weekend...from going to the library, to making pizza, to taking a nap together on the couch. Hopefully the next time he plays, something other than work will come up.
Bunnies!
