Sorry, this post doesn't come with a video. If I had a video, what you would see wouldn't be very cute!
RLG was sick the last week with pneumonia. He stayed home Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with me and then Friday with Dad. He is much, much better and went back to school on Monday.
That being said...on Sunday we noticed a change in his sweet disposition. By Monday, it had been replaced by a mile wide streak of ORNERY. He has been OFF THE HOOK, OUT OF CONTROL! He started hitting, hair pulling, and biting. He has been trying to knock over the grandfather clock, while making it clear that he knows he shouldn't touch it. Oh, and he thinks that timeout is hilarious. Obviously, we're doing it wrong.
Then on Tuesday, Jason hung his head in shame when his teachers reported that he had bitten three separate children, one twice. Oh, and did I mention that there are only 5 kids in the class.
Makes pick up time with other parents kind of awkward, right!
WHAAAT???! So I'm thinking... in one week of being home with Mom and Dad...we broke him! Was it all the hugs and kisses...was it sleeping on the couch with him when he woke in the middle of the night...was it eating cereal on the couch watching TV instead of at the table...was it too many episodes of Ellen...or did we simply bore him into madness.
As the week is progressing, he is slowly improving. I have to say I never thought that a 25 pound toddler could be sooo terrorizing! And I don't know...it probably wasn't our fault. He has been getting his canines this week. Apparently they make toddlers and vampires want to draw blood.
So I reflect on the past. About 8 months ago, RLG was purposefully vomiting. Don't ask...he thought it was funny...I did not! Anyways I asked one of the wise mom friends, Marsha, about this. She said "Don't worry. He'll grow out of it." As I sighed a breath of relief, she laughed and said "...and it'll be replaced with some other obnoxious behavior!"
I guess she is right! So now as I ride out this phase of terror, I will enjoy my videos of sweet, silly Robert and wonder about what is to come.
