Happy 3rd Birthday

3 years old! How did that happen?! One minute we were driving him home from the hospital and the next minute he is telling me which way to turn on the road (like the garmin doesn't tell me repeatedly).

He is a really great kid! (Hey, it's his birthday...I can brag). He is smart, curious, funny, sweet, and is his own man. Just today, he informed me that he is not going to use the pizza costume we bought him for Halloween because he is going to be a firefighter. I'm certainly not fighting this battle.

Anyways, here we are celebrating his birthday as a family. (Teddy is present, but asleep in his carseat)

We decided to take him out to a restaurant of his choice for dessert. And where did he choose? ... Starbuck's. That's right, my kid picked Starbuck's to celebrate his birthday. Already, I'm kind of embarrassed that Robert knows the word Starbuck's, and then he goes and chooses it for his birthday celebration.

How does he know about Starbuck's? Well, on the rare days that I get out early from work and can pick up Robert, we go there for treats. I guess it has managed to become a special place for us. I love the coffee; he loves the chocolate brownies.

Sidebar- Since I've been on maternity leave, I have been picking him up everyday. So now he wants to go to Starbuck's daily. The other day, I told him that it wouldn't be called a "treat" if we had it everyday. Instead, it would be called an "everyday". He responded by saying, "Mommy, let's get an everyday."

Here he is getting ready to open his presents.

I mean who hasn't sung "Happy Birthday" to themselves.

The next weekend we had a Halloween birthday party. My last feat of maternity leave was the treat table for the party. I hardly ever bake, but for some reason Halloween brings out the baker in me. Here's a little pre-party footage. Sorry about the videographer!

Anyways, the party was a lot of fun, especially with all the kids in their costumes. Unfortunately, we didn't take too many party photos.
